#25 Stags Head South to The Mount for Saturday Showdown

Fairfield has won its last 10 games to stand as the final MAAC unbeaten

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – #25 Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse brings a 10-game winning streak south to Emmitsburg, Md. for a Saturday clash at Mount St. Mary's. Opening draw is set for noon.
 
#25 Fairfield University Stags (10-1, 4-0 MAAC)
  • The Stags are nationally-ranked for the fourth straight week, checking in at #25 in the IWLCA poll.
  • Fairfield is the MAAC's last remaining unbeaten at 4-0 in conference play following a 16-5 win on Wednesday at Marist.
  • The Stags have allowed 10 goals or fewer in every game of their 10-game winning streak, and have conceded eight goals or fewer in their four MAAC victories.
  • Nationally, Fairfield ranks seventh in scoring defense with 8.27 goals per game allowed.
  • The Stags also own the MAAC's top offense with 14.36 goals per game.
  • After her fifth straight five-goal game on Wednesday, Elizabeth Talluto leads the MAAC with 3.73 goals per game.
 
Mount St. Mary's University Mountaineers (4-7, 2-2 MAAC)
  • The Mount most recently claimed a defensive battle at Canisius, 8-5, to move to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in MAAC play.
  • On the season, Mount St. Mary's ranks seventh in the MAAC in both scoring offense (10.45 goals/game) and scoring defense (11.64 goals/game).
  • Mackenzi Furlong sets the scoring pace for The Mount with 28 goals and nine assists for 37 total points.
  • Ashlynn Watkins helms the cage, boasting an 11.47 goals-against average and a .431 save percentage.
 
Series History
  • Last season's win in Emmitsburg moved Fairfield to 9-5 all-time against the Mount in a series that had been dormant since 2009.
  • The teams were also conference foes for the first two series meetings, a pair of wins for the Mount in 1997 and 1998 – Fairfield's first two varsity campaigns.
  • Mount St. Mary's has never played at Rafferty Stadium.

  • Action returns to Rafferty Stadium next week for the final two home contests of the regular season with visits from Quinnipiac (April 10) and Manhattan (April 13).
