FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team completed their 17-game homestand as they fell by a 12-3 decision to Yale on Wednesday. Six different Stags picked up hits with
Matt Bucciero leading the squad with a pair.
After Yale scored the first four runs of the game, the Stags would get half of those back in the bottom of the third on a
Dean Ferrara two-run single up the middle. Fairfield had a chance to put even more runs on the board with the bases loaded and nobody out, but Yale would get a fly out and a double play to end the threat.
The Stags would be held off the board until the eighth when Bucciero lined a RBI single into left to score
Luke Nomura and put the score at 12-3.
Fairfield used nine pitchers in the midweek contest with five of those hurlers producing scoreless outings.
Peter Ostensen was the lone Stag to tally a perfect frame, striking out a batter in his inning of work.
The Stags hit the road for the first time in a month when they travel to Mount St. Mary's for a three-game set against the Mountaineers starting on Friday at 3pm.
