FORT MEYERS, Fla. – The Fairfield University Baseball team blasted four home runs with a pair coming off the bat of Matt Bergevin but it wasn't enough as the Stags fell 19-5 in the opening game of the series at Florida Gulf Coast. Ryan Strollo and Luke Nomura also homered in the setback.
 
Strollo's long ball led off the game as he slugged the 10th pitch he saw over the wall on the right field line to give the Stags a 1-0 lead.
 
Bergevin would have the first of his two homers in the third on another 3-2 pitch. He would complete his two-homer day with a two-run shot in the seventh.
 
Nomura would slug his second homer of the spring with a solo shot in the eighth.
 
The Stags totaled six hits in the loss with Strollo, Bergevin, and Nomura all picking up a pair. Zach Selinger drew two of the team's six walks in his first game with the squad.
 
The two teams play the middle game on Saturday at 2pm.
