Stags Host Drexel, Saturday at Noon

Fairfield is riding a four-game winning streak

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse brings a four-game winning streak to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Saturday for a noon visit from Drexel. Admission is free for all fans.
 
The Fairfield University Stags (4-1, 0-0 MAAC)
  • The Stags improved to 4-1 with a 12-10 win over visiting Vermont on Wednesday at Rafferty Stadium.
  • Claire Morris had a season-best 12 saves in the cage to stifle the Catamounts.
  • Offensively, Elizabeth Talluto netted a hat trick and dished out two assists.
  • For the season, Talluto ranks second in the MAAC in both goals (18) and points (24).
  • Fairfield's top facilitator is Libby Rowe with 11 assists.
  • On the defensive end, Lindsey Barnes leads the MAAC and slots 11th nationally with 3.40 ground balls per game.
 
The Drexel University Dragons (4-2, 0-0 CAA)
  • Drexel knocked off #16 Navy, 13-12, on Wednesday in Annapolis to move to 4-2.
  • The victory was the second straight for the Dragons over a nationally-ranked team, previously defeating #25 Penn State, 10-8.
  • Drexel is buoyed by Jenika Cuocco in goal, who ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.575) and third in saves per game (12.17).
  • On attack, Corinne Bednarik ranks among the top 10 in the nation in assists (17) and points (38).
  • Cuocco and Bednarik were both Preseason All-CAA picks.
  • Last season, Drexel went 12-6 overall and 5-2 in the CAA en route to an at-large selection to the NCAA postseason.
 
Series History
  • Last season's meeting in Philadelphia was the first-ever clash between the Stags and Dragons.
  • Drexel won the matchup, 10-9, netting the go-ahead goal with 1:59 remaining to escape with the win.
  • The Dragons are Fairfield's second CAA opponent on the slate, with the Stags earning a 12-9 win at Hofstra on Feb. 24.
