Fairfield Falls at Bryant, 16-5

Bryce Ford nets two goals for the Stags

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryce Ford accounted for two goals and one assist to lead the Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse offense in a 16-5 loss at Bryant on Wednesday evening. Jake Gilbert had a two-point day with a goal and an assist.
 
The Stags, who entered the game as winners of two straight contests, fall to 2-4 with the loss. Reigning America East Champion Bryant improves to 4-2.
 
With three points on the evening, Ford increased his team leads to 14 goals and 18 points this season. Gilbert, Reilly Sullivan and Jason LaMay Jr. all had single tallies for the Stags. Ford and Gilbert each scored man-up goals as Fairfield went 2-for-4 on extra-man opportunities.
 
At the faceoff X, Dylan Smith held his own against the nation's top faceoff unit. Smith went 12-for-25 with seven ground balls. Matt Rice aided the effort in the midfield with four grounders.
 
Braden Lynch headed the close defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Austin McClintic added two caused turnovers and scooped five ground balls in his first career start.
 
Will Snyder started in the Fairfield cage and made nine saves. Owen Hirsch completed the effort in goal for final 7:31 of action.
 
Bryant was led by Jack Lonsinger and Timmy Hackett, who each netted a hat trick with one assist. Scott Einarson was solid in the Bulldogs' goal with 13 saves to earn the win.
 
The Stags conclude their current road swing and the non-conference schedule with a Saturday, March 9 visit to UMass Lowell. Action returns to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Saturday, March 16 when the Stags host Hofstra at noon to open the CAA slate.
