Canisius Comes to Rafferty Stadium to Challenge #19/25 Stags, Saturday at Noon

Fairfield has won eight consecutive games

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – #19/25 Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse brings a seven-game winning streak back to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium for a Wednesday, March 27 meeting with Iona. Opening draw in the midweek MAAC clash is set for 3 p.m.
 
#19/25 Fairfield University Stags (7-1, 1-0 MAAC)
  • The Stags used a 9-0 run in the second half, holding Iona scoreless for more than 14 minutes, to break open Wednesday's clash with the Gaels en route to a 16-6 triumph.
  • Fairfield remained at #19 in this week's USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and dipped one spot to #25 in the IWLCA/ILWomen Poll.
  • After limiting Iona to only six tallies, the Stags improved to 12th in the nation with a MAAC-leading 8.67 goals allowed per game.
  • Fairfield also tops the conference in draw control percentage at .571. Individually, Rylee Harrell has nabbed 5.11 draws per game with Brynn Donnelly winning 4.78 draws per contest.
  • Amanda Kozak enters Saturday's game on the brink of history with 99 career points to her credit.
 
Canisius University Golden Griffins (8-2, 1-1 MAAC)
  • An overtime loss to Siena on Wednesday snapped the Griffs' seven-game winning streak. Fairfield and Canisius did not share any common opponents during the non-conference slate.
  • The Griffs are right behind the Stags in scoring defense at 14th nationally and second in the MAAC with 8.80 goals allowed per game.
  • Jody Chu paces the MAAC with a .478 save percentage.
  • Offensively, Paige Stachura has scored a team-best 24 goals, and Megan Previdi has dished out a team-high 16 assists.
 
Series History
  • Fairfield is riding a seven-game winning streak over Canisius to open up a 21-12 lead in the all-time series.
  • The Stags held off the Griffs for a 10-8 victory last season in Buffalo.
  • In addition to 24 all-time meetings in the MAAC regular season, the clubs have played in nine MAAC postseason games, with Canisius taking six of those decisions.
  • Fairfield's current seven-game run is the longest in the series by either team.
