Stags Win 24th-Straight Game, Take Down Manhattan on the Road

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Four Stags scored in double-figures as the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team extended the nation's second-longest winning streak to 24-straight with a 77-53 victory over Manhattan on the road. Kaety L'Amoreaux led all scorers with 20 points while Janelle Brown led the passing attack with 10 assists including the 250th of her career. The win was also Fairfield's 26th of the year, breaking the program's single-season record.

"It's great to see a quick start," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "That's a tough defensive team and I was happy to see us scoring early to give us some confidence. It's a tough place to play and their defense is tough to play against so it gave us a little bit of a cushion as we went cold in the second half."

Once again, the Stags (26-1, 18-0 MAAC) led wire-to-wire after L'Amoreaux swished through a 3-pointer 24 seconds into the game. It was one of eight long-range shots the Stags would hit in the first 20 minutes as the team shot 47 percent from deep.

Meghan Andersen's trifecta would give the Stags a double-digit lead and they would balloon that advantage to 25 points after a 17-2 run through the second quarter.

Emina Selimovic scored five points in a 9-0 run to begin that stretch, including a nice drive into the paint and a 3-pointer to cap the run.

On the defensive side, the Stags held Manhattan to just 17 first half points and just four in the second quarter. The Jaspers shot just 21 percent from the floor during the first 20 minutes.

Manhattan would cut the deficit to 15 in the third quarter but a 6-0 run quickly put the Stags up by 20, highlighted by a L'Amoreaux layup created on a spin move past her defender.

L'Amoreaux's 20 points was the third time she has reached the 20-point mark. Andersen was right behind with 18 points and eight rebounds. Emina Selimovic added 14 on 5-for-10 shooting and Kendall McGruder chipped in 12 while going 3-for-4 from distance.

Brown orchestrated the offense with 10 assists while also adding three steals.

The Stags also did a great job on the boards by out-rebounding the Jaspers 41-29, while also corralling 16 offensive rebounds.

Fairfield will hit the road for the final time in the regular season when they head to Saint Peter's on Thursday at 7pm.
