Stags Take On ACC Foe Wake Forest on Wednesday

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will close out their two-game swing in the Carolinas by heading to ACC foe Wake Forest for a Wednesday afternoon game at 2pm. The Stags will be looking to head into the Thanksgiving holiday on a three-game winning streak.

The Stags have won their last two contests by a combined 71 points after a 43-point victory over Charleston Southern on Monday. Meghan Andersen was the star of the show as the sophomore poured in a career-high 32 points on 11-for-15 shooting and a 6-for-9 performance from 3-point range.

Andersen nearly out-scored the entire Charleston Southern squad as Fairfield held the Buccaneers to a season-low 36 points. Twenty-three of Andersen's points came in the first half after draining four 3-pointers with the rest of the team going a combined 0-for-11 from long-range.

Andersen's shooting rubbed off on the rest of the team in the second half as the Stags drained nine 3-pointers in the final 20 minutes and shot 50 percent from the floor. Seven different players would drain a trifecta in the second stanza.

In total, Fairfield connected on a season-high 14 3-pointers, tying for the second-most in a game in program history. The Stags have hit double-digit 3-pointers in four of the five games this season after breaking the previous school single-season record by 100 last season. Fairfield currently leads the MAAC and ranks 12th in the country with 10.4 made 3-pointers per game.

Janelle Brown returned to the starting lineup and netted eight points bringing her career total to 994. She is six points away from becoming the 34th Fairfield player to reach 1,000 career points.

Wake Forest enters the game with a 4-2 record with their only losses to Villanova and George Mason. Tamia Jones in the lone player averaging double figures with 11.7 points per game.

The Stags will head home for a two game homestand, starting with a visit from the College of Staten Island on Tuesday at 7pm.
