Women’s Basketball Heads to Oklahoma State on Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will look to find the momentum again as they head to Stillwater, Okla., to face the Oklahoma State Cowgirls with tip-off on Saturday at 3pm EST. The Stags are coming off their first loss of the season falling in their home opener to reigning Atlantic-10 Champions Richmond on Tuesday.

Fairfield struggled offensively in their setback, netting only seven points in the first half while shooting 12 percent. The Stags recovered in the second half, out-scoring the Spiders 32-30, but the hole was too deep to dig out of.

The Stags shot 48 percent in the second stanza led by nine points from Meghan Andersen. She tied Kaety L'Amoreaux for the team lead as the duo connected on nearly half of the team's field goals.

Fairfield had entered the game ranked No. 1 in the World Exposure Mid-Major poll and receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Top-25 polls.

Before the game, the Stags unveiled their Championship banner which commemorated their MAAC Championship season, NCAA Tournament appearance, and their conference-record 29-game winning streak. Fairfield also handed out their championship rings as part of the pregame ceremony.

The Stags will be meeting Oklahoma State for the first time in program history. The Cowgirls enter the game with a 3-0 record while averaging nearly 93 points per game. Micah Gray is their leading scorer with a 20.5 scoring average.

Fairfield will return home to face Central Connecticut State on Wednesday night at 7pm.
