Stags Stay Unbeaten in the MAAC with 2-0 win at Manhattan

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the second-straight game, Maddy Theriault and Reagan Klarmann both touched the back of the net, leading to a 2-0 victory at Manhattan as the Stags stay unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. Fairfield allowed just six shots in the shutout victory with Lindsay Dewar posts her first clean sheet with the Stags.

"It was a solid performance on the road," Head Coach David Barrett said. "We were a little shaky with the ball in the first 20-25 min but I thought our second half was quite good."

Theriault was at the forefront in both of Fairfield (10-1-1; 5-0-1 MAAC) scores starting with her 1v1 finish in the 40th minute. Dana Nadda played a long through ball that Theriault was not only able to chase down but also get past the Manhattan backline, beating the goalkeeper on the right side.

The goal was the seventh this season and the 25th of her career, bringing her to a tie for ninth place on the school's all-time record.

She nearly missed another goal in the 50th minute as her long-range shot hit off the crossbar and Klarmann was able to get her right foot on the ball and push it past the line. The goal was her fifth of the season, setting a new career-high.

Fairfield's defense was stifling for the Jaspers who took just six shots with only one of those on target. Dewar would stop that attempt in picking up her first shutout with the Stags.

Fairfield was on the front foot offensively all match long as they attempted 16 corner kicks.

The win marks the third time under Coach Barrett that the Stags have reached double-digits in victories. Entering the match, the Stags had the tenth best winning percentage in the country.

Fairfield will look to keep the momentum going when they host Merrimack on Wednesday night at 7pm.
