Krubally Powers Stags to 3-1 Win and Season Sweep of Sacred Heart

Sophomore crushed 16 kills on .583 hitting and adds five blocks in the road win

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Mamie Krubally hammered 16 kills on .583 hitting to power Fairfield University Volleyball to a 3-1 win on Wednesday at crosstown rival Sacred Heart. The victory completed the home-and-home sweep of the Pioneers in their first season as a MAAC foe for the Stags.
 
With the win, the Stags improve to 12-0 in the MAAC as a part of a 14-10 overall record. Fairfield maintains a two-match lead over second-place Quinnipiac atop the conference standings. Sacred Heart fell to an even 6-6 record in conference play and sits at 10-14 overall.
 
The Stags closed out the match by set scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-15.
 
Krubally's 16 kills and .583 hitting percentage propelled the Stags to a .351 team mark. The Stags also got six kills and on .556 hitting from Harlan Wyche and six finishers at a 417 clip from Maya Walker. Janna Schlageter played two sets on the right side and put down five kills on seven errorless swings (.714).
 
On the outside, Allie Elliott had 10 kills with Svenja Rodenbüsch tallying eight and Mikayla Haut posting four.
 
Blakely Montgomery and Abby Jandro kept the attack humming with 28 and 18 assists, respectively. The duo has guided the Stags to a hitting percentage better than .300 in eight of 12 conference contests this fall, including both wins over Sacred Heart.
 
Defensively, Krubally also helped set the pace with a hand in five of the Stags' 11 team blocks. Wyche and Walker also played a role in five rejections apiece. A balanced effort in the back row included nine digs each from Elliott and Noelle Carey, with Jandro adding seven and Rodenbüsch picking up six.
 
In total, the Fairfield defense held Sacred Heart to .142 hitting. The Pioneers were led by 17 kills from Camryn Luginbuhl swinging at .163 on the outside.
 
This weekend, Fairfield hits the road with trips to Merrimack and Quinnipiac on Nov. 2-3. First serves in both matches are set for 1 p.m. The Bobcats swept the Warriors in North Andover tonight.
