BRONX, N.Y.- Fairfield's Hannah Snayd took first place on Friday morning at the prestigious IC4A/ECAC Championship Meet held in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Snayd covered the 6K course in a personal-best time of 20:41.9 which was 8.8 seconds faster than the second place finisher, Yale's Claire Archer.
Friday's triumph is Snayd's second first-place finish in four meets so far this fall, as she also broke the tape first at the Marist Season Opener on August 31.
As a team, the Stags finished in 15th place among the 20-team meet that saw a total of 251 runners cross the finish line. Mia Strazzella was Fairfield's second finisher with a time of 22:06.9.
Yale won the team event with a score of 53 points, as they placed all five scorers in the Top-20 finishers. Friday's event also featured fellow MAAC teams Siena (7th place) and Mount St. Mary's (19th place).
Devan Gambello (23:23.6), Catherine Gobo (23:30.5) and Sophie Cheesman (23:36.2) were the final three scorers for Fairfield in Friday's meet.
Molly Ryle, Ada Gebauer, Anna Heras, Megan Furlong and Callie DeDecko rounded out the Stags' finishers at the IC4A/ECAC Championship Meet.
The Fairfield women's cross country team will return to action next Friday, October 25 at the CCSU Mini Meet, which will be held in New Britain's Stanley Quarter Park, as squad continues to prepare for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship Meet on November 2.
