Men's Soccer Hosts Harvard In Non-Conference Finale Tuesday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's soccer team returns to Lessing Field for its final non-conference game of the 2023 campaign, hosting Harvard University on Tuesday night. The game is slated for a 7 pm start.

About Fairfield
  • The Stags held distinct advantages in their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) season opener at Mount St. Mary's, but came away with a 2-1 setback after the home team scored with 48 seconds left in the game. Fairfield finished the match with a 20-6 edge in shots and an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. A first-half goal by the Mount gave the lead to the team, which stood until Tyler Reavis' goal in 89th minute. The sophomore finished scoring chance that began with passes from Juan Pablo Leano and Thomas Drillien. The game remained level for only a minute as Mount St. Mary's regained the lead off a free kick opportunity just outside the box.
  • Tyler Reavis may be listed on the roster as a defender, but the sophomore has made an impact on offensive in each of the last two games. He opened the scoring in last Monday's 3-1 win over LIU with an impressive run in the 31st minute. He followed up with his game-tying tally in the Mount St. Mary's match, finishing off his week with two goals for four points, the first goals and points of his Fairfield career.
  • Goalkeeper Victor Nikolov was in the lineup for both games last week, making four saves and posting a 1.50 goals against average in his two starts. The sophomore has collected a pair of saves in each of his two starts. James Anderson started the first four games of the 2023 season and registered a 1.00 goals against average and averaged 4.0 saves per appearance.
  • The Stags come into this week as the top scoring team in the MAAC, netting 12 goals in six games for a 2.00 goals per game average. Canisius is second on the list with 1.71 goals per contest. Kaea Ringihaeata holds the top spot among Fairfield's 2023 scorers so far, posting two goals and one assists for five points. He joins William Pierce and Tyler Reavis for team lead with two goals each as the trio accounts for half of the team's 12 goals scored through the first six games.

About Harvard
  • The Crimson rallied for a 1-1 draw with 12-ranked University of Vermont in their last outing, the second time the team has played to a draw with a ranked team this season. Earlier in the year, Harvard battled 23rd-ranked Seton Hall University to a 1-1 tie, collecting the equalizer in the 90th minute off the foot of Nik White. The program owns an 0-2-3 record coming into the match with Fairfield.
  • Harvard will play a match away from campus for only the second time this season, opening the campaign with four home games through its first five dates. The lone road contest came at Marquette University where the Crimson fell by a 1-0 score with an own goal being the only separation between the two programs. Goalkeeper Lucian Wood made a career-bet seven stops for Harvard.
  • Willem Ebbinge and Nik White are the team's top scorers with two points each, both scoring one goal to date. Jan Riecke and Matus Vician each have one assist on the season. Wood has started four of the team's five matches, sporting a 1.50 goals against average with a .647 save percentage off 11 saves.

  • The Stags return to MAAC play when they travel to Rider University on Saturday, September 23 for a 7 pm match.
