FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Harvard Crimson scored all three of their goals in the second half as the Fairfield University Women's Soccer team fell 3-0 to the road side at Lessing Field on Friday night. It marked the first non-conference home loss in the six years under Head Coach
David Barrett, snapping a 16-game unbeaten streak.
After holding Harvard, a team who ranked second in the nation in points per game last year, scoreless in the first half, the Crimson would find their shooting touch. Harvard would net three goals in the span of nine minutes starting with a penalty kick goal by Josefine Hasbo just four minutes into the second stanza.
The Stags surrendered just six shots in the opening 45 minutes before the Crimson attempted 10 shots in an up-tempo second half.
Fairfield also found their up-tempo offense in the second half attempting all three of their shots in the final 45 minutes.
Sam Kersey had the best chance for the Stags with a 1v1 opportunity that was kicked away by the Harvard goalkeeper Anna Karpenko.
Alex Darcy had the other Fairfield shot on target which was hit away by Karpenko in the 67th minute. Fairfield was out-shot 16-3 in the match with
Katie Wright making four saves.
Fairfield will be back in action when they travel to Bryant for a Thursday night match with kick-off at 7pm.
