Softball Moves Up Saint Peter's Doubleheader To Friday Afternoon

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Weather has forced another change to the Fairfield University softball schedule as the Stags will now play Saint Peter's University in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) doubleheader on Friday, April 28. The games were originally slated for Saturday, April 29. The game times will remain the same at 12 and 2 pm.

The Stags are looking to build on the momentum gained during their recent home stand which saw the team win five of six games played. The pitching staff kept the opposition in check during the stretch, allowing one run in one game and no runs in three other contests. The lineup was equally effective from the batter's box, averaging just over four runs per game (25 run scored) including three games of seven or more runs.

Shortstop Madison Robicheau batted .625 during the six-game home stand, picking up five hits in eight at-bats and scoring three runs. Outfielder Charli Warren put together the team's best slugging percentage over the run of games as two doubles and a triple pushed her percentage to .647. Catcher Delaney Whieldon brought home one-fourth of the team's runs with six RBI in six games, posting a .316 batting average off six hits in 19 at-bats.

Three different pitchers earned a victory during the home stand led by senior Samantha Lindsay's three victories. She tossed a complete-game shutout against Iona, had a hand in the team's other two shutouts and did not allow a run in her 14 innings over the timeframe. Alyssa Weinberg collected a win and a save while fanning 19 hitters in 13 innings pitched, posting a 0.54 ERA. Bailey Taylor put forth her longest outing of the year, a four-inning stint that earned her the win against Sacred Heart.

Saint Peter's split its last six MAAC games by sweeping Niagara, splitting with Rider, and dropping a pair of contests at Canisius. The Peacocks are one of four teams in the MAAC with at least 20 victories, sporting 25 coming into this weekend's action.

The team boasts one of the conference's top offensive unit this year, scoring 239 runs in 41 games (5.8 runs per game). Four student-athletes have at least 20 RBI this season, highlighted by Tai Turner's 34 RBI over her 39 appearances. The foursome also includes Dakota Pitts (25 RBI), Cara McNulty (24 RBI), and Jess Forte (21 RBI).

In the pitching circle, Sydney Senerchia has won 14 of her 18 decisions this season, earning a 2.72 ERA off her 105 innings pitched. She also has 53 strikeouts, twice as many as the team's runner up in that category. Sydney Palmer owns a 7-6 record with a team-best 2.23 ERA, registering five saves over her 23 appearances.
