FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team completed the inaugural season at the Leo D. Mahoney Arena with a 65-53 victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks to begin a Fairfield Basketball doubleheader.
Janelle Brown led three Stags in double figures with 19 points as the Stags improve to 11-8 in the MAAC.

Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "I'm excited that we continue to get better towards the MAAC Tournament and finishing the season the right way."
The Stags shot 50 percent from the floor in the game, the second-straight game they have shot at a 50 percent clip. That hot shooting started in the first quarter as the Stags put up 23 points in the first 10 minutes while shooting 60 percent from 3-point range.
Kate Peek was at the center of that shooting barrage as she went 4-for-5 from deep during the first quarter, outscoring the entire Saint Peter's team 12-8.
Fairfield would increase their lead to 21 just three minutes into the second quarter on a
Jocelyn Polansky jumper to put the score at 29-8.
Fairfield would lead by at least 12 the rest of the way and led by as many as 24 after an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter.
Callie Cavanaugh was the one who converted the fast break layup on a pass from
Izabela Nicoletti Leite with four minutes left.
The Stags led in fastbreak points 22-4 and also notched 22 bench points. Brown led the Stags with 19 points going 7-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-4 from 3-point range. In her last two games, Brown is shooting 85 percent from the field. She is also shooting at a 54 percent clip from deep over the last six games.
Cavanaugh tallied 18 points, the 24th time this year she has reached double figures. Nicoletti Leite led the team with six assists.
Andrea Hernangomez led the team on the boards with a season-high 11 rebounds.
The Stags will complete their regular season with a road trip to Quinnipiac on Saturday at 2pm.
