RICHMOND, Va. – After recording a .571 save percentage in his first two appearances for Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse, Will Snyder has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week. Snyder totaled 20 saves in the Stags' 1-1 week of non-league action.
 
In his collegiate debut on Wednesday night against Sacred Heart, Snyder stifled the Pioneers with nine saves while conceding only five goals in a convincing 17-5 victory on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. He also collected two ground balls with a caused turnover in the winning effort.
 
Snyder returned to the cage on Sunday at Richmond, where he made 11 stops with two ground balls as the Stags went toe-to-toe with the reigning SoCon Champion and inaugural preseason Atlantic-10 favorite Spiders to a 10-8 final. He made seven of his 11 saves in the second half, including four of five opportunities in the third quarter as the Stags went to the fourth frame within one goal at 8-7.
 
Snyder is the 10th Stag overall and the third Stags' goalkeeper to earn CAA Rookie of the Week laurels since Fairfield joined the conference beginning in 2015.
 
Up next for Fairfield (2-2) is a trip to Providence on Saturday, March 4 for a noon faceoff with the Friars. Providence is 2-3 this season, most recently falling 19-6 yesterday at #12 Saint Joseph's.
 
Fairfield then returns to Rafferty Stadium for the only back-to-back home outings of the campaign against Bryant (March 7) and Binghamton (March 11). Tickets for both contests are on sale now at FairfieldStags.com/TIX.
