FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams return from a two-week hiatus in the schedule by traveling north to the Terrier Invitational this weekend. The three-day event begins on Friday with a morning session at 10 am followed by a night session at 6 pm. The Invitational continues with racing beginning at 10 am and 6 pm on Saturday before ending on Sunday with a 10 am start followed by a 5 pm session.
After the two-week layoff, the Stags are ready to get back into the pool this weekend against UMass, Northeastern, and host Boston University. Bryant University will also be on site for the diving competition only.
"I am excited about the Invitational this weekend," Head Coach
Jacy Dyer said. "We will be going against good competition throughout the three days. This will put the team in pressure situations with the prelims and the finals. It's a great way to prepare for us for the MAAC championships at the end of the season."
The time off also provided an opportunity for the men's and women's teams to reflect on the season and gain some insight on how they are doing both individually and as a group.
"We some time during the week to talk about our goals and refresh our goals," Coach Dyer said. "We were able to put things in perspective while also keeping our goals in mind as we prepared for the Terrier Invitational. The team worked very hard in practice so our training has been great. Everyone is really excited to compete this weekend."
Fairfield looks to build on the its successful start to the season which started in early October with both the men's and women's teams taking first place at the Fairfield Invitational. The men's team went on to win three of its four dual meets while the women's program swept its four dual meet opponents later in the month.
Following the Terrier Invitational, the Stags will look toward the US Open which begins on November 29 and runs through December 2. The event takes place in Greensboro, N.C.
