Swimming & Diving Completes Sweep Against Wagner

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the second straight day, the Fairfield University swimming and diving programs swept an opponent as the Stags picked up victories against Wagner College at the RecPlex Pool. The Fairfield University men's team earned the win by a 200-94 count while the women's team collected a victory by a 186-102 margin.

Fairfield dominated the meet by winning 26 of the 32 events including all four relay races as well as all four diving competitions. The two teams also combined to garner first and second in a number events including both 800 free events. The Stags also swept all three top placings in the men's 1-meter and 3-meter dives in addition to the women's 200 fly.

Lia Oppenheim (1M and 3M dives), Erini Pappas (200 back, 200 IM) and Nora Segurola-Larrinaga (100 back, 100 free) highlighted the women's performance as double winners while Ed Hunt led all Fairfield swimmers with three victories (200 fly, 200 back, and 200 IM) followed by Hans Lim (100 and 200 Breaststroke) and Tim Regan (200 and 400 Free) picking up a pair of first-place finishes.

The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving team will take a break from dual meet competition for its next time in the pool. The Stags will travel to Boston University for the Terrier Invitational on November 17-19 before moving on to the US Open Championships later in the month. Fairfield's next dual meet comes in the new year when the team travels to James Madison University for a tri-meet that also includes George Mason on January 13.
