FAIRFIELD, Conn. --
Lucie Vincent put together the best offensive week of her brief Fairfield University career when she scored three goals and added an assist in a 2-0 week for the Stags' field hockey team. The freshman picked up two weekly honors from the Northeast Conference (NEC) for her performance, garnering the Offensive Player of the Week in addition to the Rookie of the Week awards.
Fairfield hosted two conference opponents last weekend and Vincent was a key contributor in both of those contests. She opened the weekend by scoring the go-ahead goal against Sacred Heart University, pushing her teammates in front by a 2-1 score with a goal in the second quarter. She added a second goal later in the quarter that sent the team into halftime with a 3-1 edge, a game which the Stags would eventually win by a 6-1 score. She followed up two days later with another goal that sealed Fairfield's win over Saint Francis University, a team which came into the game unbeaten in conference play.
Vincent leads all Fairfield scorers with a team-best six goals with three assists for 15 points, averaging 1.4 points per game through her 11 appearances. She has at least one point in six of the team's 11 games this season and has scored a goal in each of the last three games. She is tied for the NEC lead for goals scored but leads the conference outright in total points and game-winning goals with three.
The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach
Jackie Kane, leads the NEC standings with a 3-0 record and is the only unbeaten team left in conference play. The Stags currently stand 11-2 overall and bring a five-game winning streak into this weekend's action. The Stags will travel to Wagner College on Friday before ending the weekend with a trip to the University of Maine on Sunday afternoon.
