"Our team was incredibly gritty tonight and I'm very proud of them for digging in and getting stops when our shots weren't falling," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "We talk all the time about controlling the controllables and I thought that we did that for the vast majority of the game. We showed a lot of toughness and focus in our consistent communication, rebounding, and attention to detail on the scout, and I thought we did all of those at a really high level."

The Stags scored 13 of the final 15 points of the game after Cavanaugh tied the game at 32 with a field goal and then gave Fairfield the lead with a pair of free throws. She would score six-straight points in the decisive run of the game and was also helped by five points by Brown and a pair of free throws from Izabela Nicoletti Leite.
