Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stags Fall at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team's three-game winning streak was snapped on Sunday as the Dartmouth Big Green tallied two second half goals and the Stags fell 2-1. Maddy Theriault scored her second goal of the season in the setback with Hannah Vogt also recording her second assist. Katie Wright would record three saves in net as the Stags closed out their non-conference part of their schedule.

Theriault got the scoring started in the 20th minute by once again using her footwork to get by her defenders. Vogt sent a through ball up the middle of the field that Theriault was able to chase down. The freshman would charge up the field, created space against her defender, and put the ball on the left foot that she was able to hit into the back of the net.

Dartmouth would grab the lead by netting two goals in the second half with Allie Winstanley tallying both scores 17 minutes apart. Her last score came in the 85th minute to give the home side the 2-1 advantage.

Fairfield had chances in the second half, out-shooting Dartmouth 8-6 in the final stanza. Reagan Klarmann nearly converted one of those opportunities in the 82nd minute when she unleashed a shot well outside of the box that hit off the top of the post.

Sam Kersey also nearly got into the scoring column as she launched a shot in the 51st minute that beat the goalkeeper but went off the side of the post.

In the match, the Stags were nearly out-shot by a 13-12 margin and put five of those attempts on target. Elle Scott led the squad with four shots and three on net.

Fairfield will now open up their conference schedule when they travel to Siena on Saturday at 1pm.
