PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Fairfield University Baseball team dropped the rubber game in their road series at Saint Joseph's with an 11-4 final score.
Evan Berta led six different Stags with hits as he tallied a career-high three.
Berta was at the forefront of Fairfield's first run of the game in the sixth as he led off the frame with his first career triple.
Mike Caruso would bring him home with a sacrifice fly.
The Stags would also get the leadoff runner on in the seventh with
Matt Venuto doubling to center. He would advance to third on a
Colin Kelly single and would score on a
Dean Ferrara sacrifice fly.
The reserves for the Stags also came up big in the ninth, plating the game's final two runs.
Giacomo Brancato and
Nick Sturino recorded two-out singles, which was followed by a Berta RBI single.
Ethan Hibbard would plate a run with a single through the left side.
The long ball would hurt the Stags again in the series finale, as they surrendered three home runs.
Fairfield will next travel to Florida Gulf Coast for a three-game series with the Eagles on Friday at 6pm. The contest will mark the first of eight-straight games in the Sunshine State.
