Stags Take Down Bradley

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Fairfield University Baseball team scored three runs in the top of the ninth to rally and take a 7-5 decision over Bradley on Tuesday. Mike Becchetti brought home the eventual game-winning run and Ryan Strollo also chipped in a RBI single to conclude his three hit day.
 
Evan Berta started the ninth inning rally with a one out single. He would score as Mike Caruso reached on an error to tie the contest. Becchetti came through with the clutch two-out hit to plate Caruso to give the Stags a 6-5 lead. Strollo would follow with another single.
 
Jack Anderson was called upon for the bottom of the ninth and forced a double play before getting a strikeout to end the game and earn his first save as a Stag.
 
Strollo also had a big hit in the seventh with a two-run double that erased a one-run deficit and put the Stags up 4-3.
 
Fairfield would get their first lead in the fourth as Matt Venuto forced in a run with a bases loaded walk after Caruso score on an error.
 
Jack Erbeck picked up the start and allowed one run in his two frames. Emmett Tolis was impressive as the first reliever out of the pen and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings.
 
Nick Grabek was credited with the win as he struck out two of the three hitters he faced before Anderson came in for the save.
 
Strollo led the Stags with three hits and three RBI. Becchetti and Berta also chipped in with a pair of hits.
 
The Stags are back in action tomorrow against Dartmouth at 1pm.
