FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Right hander Allie Bridgman earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week award after tossing a pair of games during the University of South Florida Tournament last weekend.

Bridgman pitched a five-hit shutout against 25th-ranked South Florida as the Stags posted a 4-0 win over the Bulls. She surrendered two walks and struck out one in her complete-game performance. Bridgman also started against St. John's during the South Florida tournament, surrendering one earned run She struck out three hitters and walked one in her 1.2 innings of work against the Red Storm. For the week, Bridgman owned a 0.81 ERA (1 earned run in 8.2 innings of work) with four strikeouts in her two starts. She also batted .333 with an RBI in the win against #25 USF.

The sophomore also was successful in the batter's box, posting a .333 batting average during the five-game stretch in Florida. She drove home the team's second run in the victory over South Florida, giving  her hit in two of the five games in which she appeared at the plate. She reached base seven times in her 11 plate appearances during the weekend, posting a .636 on-base percentage.

For the season, Bridgman owns a 1-2 record in the pitching circle with a 2.67 ERA over four starts. She has nine strikeouts through her 18-plus innings of work. At the plate, Bridgman owns a .333 batting average for the season  with one home run and a co-leading five RBI this season. Her best single-game performance as a hitter came against Mount Saint Mary's, stroking three hits, one of which was a home run, and driving in three runners.

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, continues its season-opening road trip with a stop at the Thundering Herd Invitational on March 11-13, playing Norfolk State, Western Carolina, and host Marshall University.
