EDISON, N.J. – For the third time this season, TJ Long has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week. Long scored a team-high 14 points for Fairfield University Men's Basketball in Sunday's 66-62 win at Manhattan. He shares this week's award with Marist's Jao Ituka.
 
Long split his 14 points evenly with seven in each half in the win over the Jaspers. He shot 4-for-5 from the field, including a 3-for-4 showing from three-point range, and knocked down three free throws. Long also corralled two rebounds and picked up a steal that led to a fast break layup.
 
On the season, Long averages 6.8 points per game, appearing in all 29 games to date off the bench for an average of 16.9 minutes per contest. He is shooting .370 from three-point range with 40 made triples and chips in 2.6 rebounds per game from the Fairfield backcourt.
 
Long's 14-point performance on Sunday was his eighth double-digit scoring day of the season as well as his fourth game as the Stags' leading scorer.
 
Up next, the Stags close out the home portion of the 2021-22 schedule on Thursday, March 3 with a visit from Rider. The backend of a Fairfield Basketball doubleheader at Webster Bank Arena tips off at approximately 7:30 p.m. following a 5 p.m. women's game.
