Gore Prevails in Singles as Men's Tennis Falls to UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. –  Kaya Gore picked up his second singles win in as many days as Fairfield University men's tennis fell 6-1 to UNC Wilmington Sunday afternoon.

"We played a bit better today after getting used to the conditions, said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "This weekend will help us as we move through the spring. Playing competition like this will definitely be a positive. Kaya Gore had a great win today and I thought our doubles continued to be a strong point."

The Seahawks opened the day by taking wins in the both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, leaving the top flight unfinished with the Stags' pairing of Jonathan Olive-Blanco and Keean Shah leading 6-5.

Singles play saw Gore take a straight set win in the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-2 earning his ninth win of the season, which ties Sam Hodges for the most on the team. Griffin Schlesinger was the only one to play a full three sets in the solo rounds, falling in a third set tiebreak 10-3.

Fairfield men's tennis is back in action Sunday when they host Wagner in the first home contest of the spring campaign. First serve between the Stags and the Seahawks is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
