FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Midfielder
Raz Amir earned a spot on the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (
MAAC) Soccer First Team after leading the Stags in scoring during the 2022 season. Eight Fairfield University men's soccer student-athletes were also honored for their academic achievement as members of the 2022
MAAC All-Academic Team.
Amir led all Fairfield scorers in most offensive statistical categories with five goals, six assists, and 16 total points. He was the team's overall leader in assists and points as well as the co-leader in goals with
Alex Oliveira. The midfielder scored at least one point in 10 of his 19 appearances, playing in every game this season. He started the campaign by tallying points in four of his first five games including a season-best two-goal effort in the team's victory against Bryant University. Amir registered three game-winning goals in 2022, deciding games against Navy, Bryant, and Mount St. Mary's.
In addition to the Amir's accomplishments, the Stags had a hearty showing on the
MAAC All-Academic team. Thomas

Cormac Pike (Marketing: Digital/Social Media), Daniel

Rasmus Sorensen-Rejnhold (Finance) represented Fairfield on the conference's academic team.Â
To be eligible for the
MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under Head Coach
Carl Rees, finished the 2022 season with an 8-10-1 overall record and a 4-5-1
MAAC mark. The Stags advanced to the 2022
MAAC Championship as the sixth seed before being eliminated by third-seeded Manhattan College on Sunday night.
