FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University student-athletes achieved one of the highest graduation rates in the nation as the NCAA announced its annual Graduation Success Rates (GSR). The Stags achieved a 94 percent graduation success rate for a four-year cohort of student-athletes entering between 2012-15.
"Fairfield student-athletes continue to show their commitment to academic excellence by achieving another impressive GSR score," Vice President of Athletics Paul Schlickmann said. "This score is a reflection of our departmental expectations, the University's dedication to provide our student-athletes with an exceptional experience and the holistic education they receive as Stags. I am ever mindful of, and grateful for, the relentless efforts of our coaches and staff to guide our student-athletes toward success both in the classroom and in competition."
Ten teams at Fairfield University achieved a 100 percent graduation rate based on the current information, namely women's basketball, men's and women's golf, women's rowing, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's tennis.
The NCAA began compiling data with the entering freshman class of 1995 and developed the GSR in order to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation over six years from initial college enrollment.
