NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Fairfield University rowing teams picked up six first-place finishes during the 2022 Fall Metropolitan Championships at Glen Island Park this afternoon. Two women's entries crossed the finish line in the top spot while four men's boats took first place in their respective events.
Brendan Martin started the run of victories for the Stags, picking up the win the single event with a time of 8:15.28. His time was nearly three seconds better than Fordham's runner up time of 8:18.05. The women's varsity 4 followed by crossing the finish line first with a time of 8:32.09. The crew consisted of Olivia Burghardt, Mia Van Mater, Gia Enderle, Grace McDonough and coxswain Ellery McSpedon.
The women's 2V8 race featured a pair of Fairfield entries with the A boat pulling out a second-place run while the B shell ended the distance in fifth place by recording a time of 8:12.2. Sacred Heart won the race by crossing the line in 7:35.57.
The Stags A entry included Miranda Schmidt, Sarah Wendling, Cassie Reilly, Adalia Flores, Meghan Megill, Megan Blair, Natalia Bertolotti, Emma Szachta, and coxswain Marianna Kalin. Fairfield's B boat was comprised by Mikayla Reardon, Megan Rourke, Lily Krol, Julie Pedrazzi, Chloe Trudel, Kelly Cullen, Alyssa Colombrita, Alicia Glasheen, and coxswain Michaela Thompson.
The women's varsity 8 crew secured second in its race with a time of 7:25.6 behind the efforts of Arianna Welton, Emily Regan, Christina Caruso, Catherine Morrissey, Isabella King, Chloe Lennon, Kathryn Bergstrom, Arden Costello, and coxswain Erin Dobbs. Marist crossed the finish line first by completing the course in 7:16.9
The men's varsity 8 and second varsity 8 each secured a first-place run with the varsity 8 posting a time of 6:25.8 over Iona (6:30.8) behind the efforts of Mike Hamilton,
Mike McCarthy, Jake Godwin,
Zach Rogers,
Jerry Malloy,
Ryan Wrynn,
Brady Stergion,
Michael Greene, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia.
The second varsity A boat took first place with a time of 6:53.6 and the B shell taking third in 7:18.1. The A crew included

The women's novice 4 also earned gold with a solid run of 8:26.7, well ahead of runner up Marist (8:40.34). The Stags were represented by Olivia Burghardt, Mia Van Mater, Gia Enderle, Grace McDonough, and coxswain Ellery McSpedon.
The men's novice 4 also posted the top time in its race by completing the distance in 7:45.6 behind the talents of
Tyler Siwiec, Chris DeLeonardis,
Joe Bannecker,
Zach Siwiec, and coxswain Christian DiGangi.
The women's pair posted a second-place time of 9:01.95 just off LIU's winning run of 9:00.02. Natalia Bertolotti and Arianna Welton were in the Stags boat.
The men's varsity 4 continued the afternoon with a first-place effort in both races with the A boat (7:07.2) beating out Fordham (7:14.1), and the B boat (7:25.17) besting Fordham's B boat (7:39.64). The Stags A boat included

The novice 8 closed out the afternoon with the Fairfield women recording the fastest time (8:05.1) and the Fairfield men also setting the pace (6:56.63). On the women's side, Kara Davidson, Alyson Moore, Lily Krol, Julie Pedrazzi, Chloe Trudel, Kelly Cullen, Alyssa Colombrita, Mia Van Meter, and coxswain Ellery McSpedon comprised the Stags' entry. On the men's side,
