FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Volleyball will play its last two matches at the RecPlex this weekend, capping the regular season slate against the MAAC New Jersey contingent, Rider and Saint Peter's. First serve on both Saturday against the Broncs and Sunday against the Peacocks is slated for 1 p.m.
Prior to Sunday's match, Fairfield will recognize its five seniors –
Joelle Battles,
Morgan Doll,
Maddy Jerdonek,
KJ Johnson and
Nya Jones – as well as graduate student
Sara Daniels.
Battles, Doll, Jerdonek and Jones have all been a part of the Stags' four straight MAAC Regular Season Championships as well as MAAC Tournament Championships and NCAA postseason appearances in both 2019 and 2021. Johnson came to Fairfield from Baylor last fall, earning MAAC Player of the Year honors and the first-ever All-America selection in program history. Daniels is a first-year Stag as a graduate student after completing her undergraduate studies at Saint Louis University.
The Stags enter the weekend as the MAAC Regular Season Champions, having locked up their fourth consecutive title last weekend with road sweeps at Iona and Manhattan. Fairfield is 21-6 overall and 15-1 in the MAAC and will be the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship beginning on Nov. 16 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.
Rider comes to the RecPlex with a record of 9-17 overall and 7-9 in the MAAC. The Broncs can finish as high as sixth on the conference table, which would earn them a spot in the conference Quarterfinals, and drop as low as eighth. Fairfield swept Rider in Lawrenceville on Oct. 16.
Saint Peter's can only finish ninth or 10th in the MAAC, locking them into to a First Round matchup on Wednesday at Disney. The Peacocks, who will visit Quinnipiac before coming to Fairfield, are 1-28 overall and 1-15 in conference play.
As the top seed, Fairfield's first match at the 2022 MAAC Championship will be in the Quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. against an opponent to be determined.
