Record-Breaking STAGiving Day Highlights 2020-21 Fairfield Athletics Fundraising

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – With a record-breaking STAGiving Day leading the way, support for Fairfield University Athletics totaled more than $10 million in cash and commitments in 2020-21. All gifts enhance the Stags student-athlete experience through scholarships and other endowments, facility improvements, and support for daily operations budgets of Fairfield's 20 varsity programs.

"Year in and year out, I am inspired by the passion of our Stags family and their belief in our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann. "The consistent and progressive support of our donors is commensurate with the high expectations we continue to articulate for our programs. Their generosity is essential in providing a holistic educational and competitive experience for our student-athletes that is second to none; ensuring our promise to develop graduates who are Built for Life."

More than 2,400 Fairfield alumni, parents and friends contributed gifts this past year, including surpassing 200 total members to the Monarch program. The Fairfield Athletics Monarch Program is a five-year commitment where all of the proceeds will support the operational needs of your specified athletics program.

On STAGiving Day – Fairfield's largest annual one-day fundraising event – more than 1,000 athletics donors combined for a single-day record of $793,000 in cash.

This year's gifts include a one-year record of $145,000 in cash raised for the Athletics Director Fund. Contributions to the Athletics Director Fund support all Stags by providing resources in the areas of mental health and wellness, scholarships, academic services, educational programming and career development.

In addition, Fairfield Baseball generated 252 gifts in 2020-21 – the highest number of gifts ever to a single fund in a fiscal year.

"As we continue to navigate the dynamic world of college athletics and the challenges associated with resourcing an aspirational Division I program, the support of our alumni and friends is more important than ever," said Nick Wormley, Assistant Vice President for Athletic Development. "The response from our donors over the past year is a resounding and encouraging statement of support, not just of our Stags' pursuits in competition, but for their well-being and for the experience of everybody that comes to our campus."
