Olaff Named MAAC Softball Player Of The Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Infielder Lacey Olaff earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Softball Player of the Week after leading the Fairfield University softball team to a sweep of Quinnipiac University to close out the regular season. The two victories clinched a berth in the MAAC Championship which started on May 7.

Olaff opened the doubleheader with three hits in four at-bats with four RBI to help Fairfield post a 5-4 win over the Bobcats. She drove home the team's first four runs with an RBI grounder to the right side of the infield in the first inning, a two-run single in the third inning, and an RBI double in the seventh inning. She followed that performance with two more hits and another RBI in the second game as the Stags registered a 5-2 victory. Olaff laced an RBI double in the top of the third inning that tied the game 1-1.

Olaff enters this week with a .315 batting average with eight doubles, two home runs, and 19 RBI. She also posted 11 walks which ranks second on the team and raises her on-base percentage to .388.

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, enters the week with a 22-12 overall record which included a pair of wins against Siena College last Friday in the MAAC quarterfinals. With those wins, the Stags advance in MAAC Championship which continues on Thursday in Buffalo, N.Y. Fairfield, the fourth-seed in the tournament, will play sixth-seeded Manhattan College on Thursday.
