HAMDEN, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team concluded their regular season with a 1-0 shutout loss at Quinnipiac.
Gena Pike recorded a season-high six saves in net.
The lone goal of the game came in the 42nd minute on a Selena Salas free kick that sailed into the upper right of the goal.
The Stags would have the majority of chances in the second half after only tallying three in the first 45 minutes.
Stephanie Tsangaris had the best chance for the Stags in the first half but her left footed shot was grounded right to the keeper.
Fairfield would out-shoot Quinnipiac 9-2 into the second half and had five of those targets on frame.
Liz Dumas had their first opportunity on goal but her high shot went right to the goalkeeper.
Brooke Hernon and
Elle Scott had the other shots on target.
Quinnipiac's goalkeeper Sofia Lospinoso was busy in net but wasn't really changed. Most of her eight saves were caught straight on.
The Stags out-shot the Bobcats 12-8 and had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Fairfield ends their regular season with a 2-2-1 overall record, currently sitting sixth in the standings. Fairfield will find out their opponent for the MAAC Championship Quarterfinal round, which will be held on Friday.
