FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Goalkeeper Gordon Botterill earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Fairfield University men's soccer team to a 2-0-1 record last week. The senior started all three games during the week, leading the team to wins over Monmouth (2-1) and Manhattan (2-0) as well as a scoreless draw with Rider.

Botterill allowed one goal in 290 minutes of work over three games. He made three saves, all in regulation, against the Broncs to register his second clean sheet of the season. He started the week by allowing one goal in a 2-1 win against Monmouth, recording a season-high five saves in his 90 minutes of work. He ended the week with three saves against Manhattan to record the shutout. For the week, Botterill owned a 0.31 goals against average with a .917 save percentage off 11 saves.

The Stags, under Head Coach Carl Rees, improved their overall and MAAC records to 3-2-1 following last week's three-game run. Fairfield completed its regular-season following the Manhattan result and now waits for the MAAC Tournament pairings announcement later this week.
