FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse wraps up the home portion of the 2021 regular season on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. with a visit from Marist. The Stags enter the day at 8-1 overall and in first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Â
Stags most recently swept a weekend series at Iona by scores of 14-6 and 16-12 led by nine goals for
Ellie Grefenstette across the two games. On the season, Grefenstette's 22 goals slot her one behind
Kelly Horning for the team lead. Horning has also dished out eight assists to go along with her 23 markers for 31 points.
Meaghan Graham also owns 31 points this spring with 19 goals and 12 assists.
Diana DeVita is the team's top facilitator with 13 assists as well as 16 goals of her own.
Â
Marist is 2-2 after a lengthy pause to their campaign. The Red Foxes opened the spring with home wins over Manhattan and Monmouth then, after a 38-day hiatus due to the College's Covid protocols, have lost twice this week to Siena and Niagara. Samantha Mehalick has scored a team-best 12 goals through the Red Foxes' four contests.
Â
Following Saturday's action, the Stags will close the regular season with another pivotal conference outing at Monmouth on Wednesday, April 28.
