#13/14 Drexel Stops Stags at Rafferty Stadium

Beckwith scores twice to crack 100 goals, 200 points for his career

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The high-powered offense of #13/14 Drexel was on display on Saturday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium, as Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse hosted the Dragons in CAA action. The Stags slowed the Drexel attack for the first half of the contest but could not keep pace after the intermission as the visitors pulled away for a 19-7 win.

Dylan Beckwith scored two goals for the Stags, pushing his totals to 101 goals and 201 points in his Fairfield career. He is only the fourth Stag in program history to top the 200-point plateau and the third to reach the century mark in both goals and assists.

Three other Stags had two points on the afternoon as Matt Chlastawa, Jake Coleman and Travis Ford each had one goal and one assist. Ryan Lancaster added a goal, Tommy Elliott scored his first career tally, and Brian Reda dished out an assist in his first action of the 2021 campaign.

On the defensive end, Jon Wheat made his first start on close defense and responded with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Tyler Burns also picked up a pair of ground balls. Colin Consoli made 13 saves in the Fairfield cage.

Drexel's All-CAA attackman Reid Bowering netted six goals for the Dragons, with Aidan Coll adding two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Ross Blumenthal made seven saves with five goals allowed in his 53 minutes of work.

Fairfield wraps up the home portion of the 2021 season on Saturday, April 24 with a noon visit from UMass. The Minutemen are 3-4 overall and the 3-3 in the CAA after a loss today at Towson. The regular season concludes the following Friday, April 30 under the lights at Hofstra.

"We're going to get the most out of the next two weeks, both in practice and these two upcoming games, and keep scratching and clawing like we have all season," said Head Coach Andrew Baxter.

Next Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Lax Sports Network with J.J. Duke on the call.
