NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse scored the first five goals of the second half and limited host Iona to just two markers after the intermission en route to a 14-6 victory on Friday afternoon in New Rochelle.
Kelly Horning and
Ellie Grefenstette paced the attack with four goals apiece, and
Olivia Conquest made 11 saves in the Fairfield cage.

With the win, Fairfield improves to 7-1 on the season, while the host Gaels fall to 1-6. The two squads will wrap up the weekend set on Sunday at 1 p.m. back on Mazella Field.

For Horning, her four goals run her team-leading totals to 22 markers and 30 total points on the season. Grefenstette's four-goal afternoon matches her career high in both goals and points. She has potted 17 goals in six games this spring.

Diana DeVita was the third Stag with a three goals on the day, highlighted by the two early free-position goals that started the scoring.
Elizabeth Rowe's two-goal performance included the game-winner, as the sophomore also handed out an assist.

Rounding out the attack,
Meaghan Graham posted one goal and an assist, and
Cameryn Dera distributed two assists.

Conquest matched her season high with 11 saves and also picked up three ground balls. The defense in front of her was led by
Caroline Mangan and
Maggie Reynolds with one ground balls and one caused turnover apiece.

In the midfield, Horning starred with five ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls.
Nicollette LaVista led the draw control effort with six as the Stags gained a 13-9 advantage on the restart.

Iona was led by two goals for Emily Stewart, with Megan Collins contributing one goal and one assist. Elyse Darcy made nine saves in the cage.

After this Sunday's series finale, the Stags return to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium to conclude the home portion of the regular season slate on Saturday, April 24 for a visit from Marist.
