Graham Nets 100th Career Point, Stags Complete Series Sweep at Iona

Fairfield improves to 8-1 in the MAAC

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Meaghan Graham netted a hat trick to reach 100 career points as Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse completed a weekend sweep at Iona on Sunday. The Stags also got five goals from Ellie Grefenstette and a five-point afternoon for Diana DeVita en route to knocking off the Gaels by a score of 16-12.

The Stags, who also topped Iona on Friday by a 14-6 count, improve to 8-1 on the season. The Gaels fall to 1-7.

Graham's hat trick gives her an even 100 points on her career with 61 goals and 39 assists. This spring, she has netted 19 goals and shares the team high of 12 helpers.

After potting four goals yesterday, Grefenstette's five markers this afternoon mark a new career high. The junior shares the team lead in goals this season with Kelly Horning, who also scored her 22nd goal of the year in today's victory.

For DeVita, her five points came courtesy of a goal and four assists. Elizabeth Rowe and Arianna Lavelle each had a four-point afternoon with a hat trick and one assist apiece.

On the draw, Lindsey Barnes pulled down a career-best six draw controls, Nicollette LaVista corralled five and Horning nabbed three. Also in the midfield, Lavelle notched a pair of caused turnovers.

The defensive effort was fortified by Olivia Conquest, who made 12 saves in the cage. In front of Conquest, the trio of Keyla Bay, Reagan Bossolina and Maggie Reynolds each contributed one caused turnover.

Iona was led by a hat trick from Emily Stewart, and two goals and one assist apiece for Caton Brisbin and Megan Collins. Elyse Darcy started in goal for the Gaels and made four saves, with Sydney Danseglio turning away three shots over the final 12 minutes in relief.

Up next, the Stags return to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium to close out the home slate against Marist. Opening draw on Saturday, April 24 is slated for 4 p.m. as the nightcap of a doubleheader that will also see Fairfield Men's Lacrosse host CAA foe UMass at noon.
