LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. –
Kaitlin Hoffman collected three hits and three RBI, one of four Stags to garner three hits on the day, to lift the Fairfield University softball team to a sweep of Rider University on Saturday. Mikayla Rubin and
Megan Forbes with two hits each with Hoffman and Rubin both adding an RBI.

The Stags scored the first five runs of game two starting with a single one in the first inning.
Sam Merino started things with a double and came home when
Megan Forbes infield single was misplayed and allowed both runners to move up a base.
The third inning brought four Fairfield runs home beginning with the first two coming off Hoffman's single, a hit which sent home
Sam Merino and Forbes.
Kasey Sekula's double brought home the third run of the inning, setting her in scoring position.
Drew Westford made good on the opportunity by sending a single up the middle to improve the Fairfield lead to 5-0.
Rider cut into the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, the first coming on a wild pitch and the second crossing home off Elena Gonzalez's double to right center field. The Broncs added a third run in the sixth inning after Kelsey Marigliano's single drove home Laneya Wright.
Allie Bridgman earned the win by tossing the first five innings before yielding to
Sam Lindsay who finished up the game which she ended by retiring the final four batters she faced. Bridgman improved to 3-0 on the season after striking out four hitters over her five innings of work. Lindsay, who worked in her seventh game of the season, surrendered three hits and no runs in the two innings she pitched.
