Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Beckwith Tallies 100th Career Assist, Towson Escapes with 12-11 Decision

The Tigers scored six of the game’s final seven goals

Note: This story has been edited to reflect a stat correction from the official scorers at Towson. Originally, it was reported that Dylan Beckwith scored his 100th career goal. The scoring change removed a goal from Beckwith but, coincidentally, resulted in him being credited with his 100th career assist. As of this edit (April 10, 2021), Beckwith has 100 career assists and 99 career goals.

TOWSON, Md. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse held a 10-6 lead in the third quarter of Saturday's CAA tilt with Towson. However, the host Tigers reeled off the game's next six goals and held off a late charge to escape with a 12-11 decision. Fairfield was led by a three-goal, two-assist effort for Dylan Beckwith, running his total to 100 assists throughout his prolific career.

Beckwith is the third Stag to reach the 100-assist mark. His hat trick also boosts his career total to 99 goals. He is one point shy of becoming only the fourth Stag to hit the 200-point mark, and his next marker will make him the third player in Fairfield history to top the century mark in both goals and assists.

In today's game, Jake Coleman added the most productive outing of his young Fairfield career with a goal and two assists. Travis Ford and Matt Chlastawa made it four Stags with at least three points on the day, each posting an identical line of two goals and one assist. Rounding out the scoring, Fairfield got single goals out of Taylor Strough, Ryan Lancaster and Cole Barnard.

In the midfield, Dylan Smith took every faceoff for the Stags and posted a 17-of-26 mark with 10 ground balls. Tyler Wuchte added three ground balls from his defensive midfield spot, and Jon Wheat swooped in with the pole to grab a pair of grounders. In addition to contributing on the offensive end, Ryan Lancaster had two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Braden Lynch made his first start on close defense and scooped up four ground balls. George Elmquist collected three ground balls in addition to a pair of caused turnovers. Colin Consoli made double-digit saves for the eighth consecutive game, turning away 10 Towson offerings.

Andrew Milani, James Avanzato and Alex Reid each registered three points to lead the host Tigers to their first CAA win of the spring. Shane Brennan made 10 saves in the Towson cage.

Following up on their first stretch of back-to-back road games, the Stags will now play back-to-back home outings on the next two Saturdays. First up on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium is an April 17 visit from Drexel followed by a rematch with UMass on April 24.
