Fairfield Athletics Mourns the Passing of Joe Boylan

Boylan was Director of Athletics at Loyola Maryland for nearly two decades

Fairfield University Athletics is saddened by the passing of Joe Boylan – who served as Director of Athletics at Loyola Maryland for nearly two decades – on March 21. Mr. Boylan led the Greyhounds from 1991-2010, a period in which Loyola was a fellow member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

"Joe Boylan was a beloved colleague, friend and mentor to countless administrators, coaches and student-athletes throughout his exceptional career. His legacy at Loyola and in the world of intercollegiate athletics is indelible. It was my privilege getting to know him the last few years through mutual connections and as a devoted grandfather to one of our own Stags. Those fortunate to have known Joe will also remember him as one of the warmest and most genuine people in our business," said Fairfield Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann.

Mr. Boylan is survived by his wife, Molly, and their daughter Heather, son-in-law Dave Wojcik, and grandson Jake Wojcik – a member of the Fairfield Men's Basketball team.
