MAAC Champion Stags Headed to #13 UCLA for NCAA Championship First Round

The match is set for Friday, Dec. 3 in Los Angeles

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Volleyball – the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions – will meet #13 UCLA in the NCAA Championship First Round. The match is set for Friday, Dec. 3 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
 
"We're excited for the opportunity to head west and compete in one of the most historic gyms and against one of the most decorated programs in all of college volleyball," said Head Coach Todd Kress.
 
An eight-time MAAC Coach of the Year, Kress is leading Fairfield into the NCAA Championship for the seventh time and making his ninth overall trip to the national stage as a Division I head coach.

The Stags are headed to the NCAA postseason for the 12th time overall and fifth in seven years after claiming the 2021 MAAC Championship with a sweep of Rider last Sunday. Fairfield is 24-8 on the season.
 
#13-seeded and nationally-ranked UCLA is 23-5 on the season, including a 10-0 mark at Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins went 16-4 in the Pac-12 to play second in the conference behind Washington. UCLA is making its 38th NCAA Championship appearance. The Bruins have won four NCAA Championship, most recently in 2011, as well as three national championships in the pre-NCAA era.
