Kynnedi "KJ" Johnson is a first-year transfer student-athlete from Baylor University. She is a Psychology major and a member of the Volleyball team.
Why did you choose to attend Fairfield University?
This is my first year at Fairfield University as a transfer student. I was in the transfer portal and Coach
Todd Kress reached out to me. I really appreciated how Coach Todd and Coach Melissa handled the entire process, which showed me that they truly wanted me to be a part of the Stag family!

What have been your favorite experiences at the University?
One of my favorite memories so far would be when our team was able to travel to Hawaii. A lot of us had never been to Hawaii and getting to experience that while playing against high level competitors brought the team closer together and the entire trip was a lot of fun!
Â
What other activities do you engage in at the University outside of your sport, and how do you think these activities have impacted your personal and professional growth?
Since I am a transfer student and it is my first year at Fairfield, I have not found much outside of volleyball to join yet. One of my classes, however, allowed me to visit the Hall Neighborhood House in Bridgeport where I got to spend a couple of hours playing with toddlers and preschoolers in an underprivileged community. This experience was very fulfilling and eye-opening, and I look forward to being able to engage in more service opportunities in Connecticut!

When you're not at Fairfield or playing your sport, what are your hobbies and interests?
When I am not playing my sport, I like to find different places to eat in the town of Fairfield. I also enjoy reading, watching movies with my friends, and going to the mall in my free time.
Â
In general, how has being a part of the Fairfield Athletics impacted you personally, academically, and/or professionally?
I think that Fairfield Athletics has helped me become a better teammate and helped me meet new people due to the smaller campus. I think it's pushed me to want to achieve my long-term goals even more and just give my all in every aspect whether academically or athletically.
Â
During your time at the University, are there any achievements that you're especially proud of?
I think being awarded MAAC Player of the Week was one of my biggest achievements at Fairfield University. I was very grateful and appreciative, and I would not have been able to get the award without the help and support of my teammates and coaches.
