Charlie Morkel is a graduate student transfer from UNC Asheville. He is pursuing an M.S. in Finance with a concentration in Business Analytics and is a member of the Men's Tennis team.

Why did you choose to attend Fairfield University?
I chose Fairfield University because I spent the past two summers working at the Fairfield Beach Club, and I fell in love with not only the town but the people in the area. I also chose to attend Fairfield because of their academics and excellent Master's in Finance program. The location also played a significant role in my decision to attend – having close proximity to New York City in addition their large alumni network.
 
What have been your favorite experiences at the University?
Fairfield University is the third college that I am attending as a student-athlete. Something that stands out about the University is the coaching staff and team. You can truly see that the coaching staff – Head Coach Jeff Bricker, and Coach Paige, Coach Cook and Coach Klein - truly care for the student-athletes on and off. We also have a great group of gentlemen on the men's tennis team who have a strong connection with each other.
 
What other activities do you engage in at the University outside of your sport, and how do you think these activities have impacted your personal and professional growth?
The men's tennis team took part in an event to clean the beaches. Fairfield has an amazing community and I think it is great to get involved and be a part of it. After my busy fall schedule with tennis and frequent job searching, I hope to become more involved in the Fairfield community. 
 
When you're not at Fairfield or playing your sport, what are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy watching sports and having barbecues with friends.  I also enjoy swimming in the ocean, watching television shows, and playing video games.
 
In general, how has being a part of the Fairfield Athletics impacted you personally, academically, and/or professionally?

The great coaching staff and support at Fairfield University has given me motivation and inspired me.  These figures are good role models - having pride in their jobs and helping wherever they can. 
 
During your time at the University, are there any achievements that you're especially proud of?
I am very proud to have played at the All-American National Championships, giving me the opportunity to play some of the best student-athletes in NCAA tennis.  This is great honor since only a few athletes and even fewer schools get this opportunity.
