Men's Tennis

Why did you choose to attend and play tennis at Fairfield University?
During the college search, I applied to 12 schools. I am a very analytical person, so I made sure to stay with a tennis player at every school I applied; however, Fairfield stood out most to me. I ultimately chose to attend Fairfield because of their great business program in addition to them having one of the best tennis programs within a small Division I school on the east coast.  Fairfield's size was perfect to ensure I wasn't just a number in the classroom and my voice could be heard. The Jesuit tradition and opportunities Fairfield had to offer within organizations outside of the classroom and tennis were also very enticing.

What are some of your favorite memories as a student and athlete of Fairfield University?
Being inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society, the prestigious Jesuit honor society, my junior year is one of my favorite memories as a student. Receiving an invitation to be inducted into the society was a lengthy and competitive process, requiring me to display my commitment to scholarship, loyalty, and service. Jesuit values and ideals continue to be part of my core values both personally and professionally.

As a student-athlete, winning back-to-back MAAC Team Championships in 1997 and 1998 and an Individual MAAC Tournament Championship in 1999 are some of my favorite memories as a part of the tennis team.  I was also recognized as a MAAC Scholar Athlete every semester throughout my four years at Fairfield, which is one of my proudest student-athlete accomplishments.

In what way are you still connected to Fairfield University and Fairfield Athletics?
I am actively involved in campus recruiting for my company, Alvarez & Marsal, during the academic year. We host multiple learning sessions and networking events within the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, including Beta Alpha Psi and the Accounting Club.  We have six juniors who are accounting and finance majors starting in our internship program for Summer 2022!

I also currently serve on the Fairfield Athletics Hall of Fame Committee and regularly attend virtual meetings with Coach Bricker to mentor student-athletes. This past year, I have been able to be involved with Fairfield Athletics virtually – attending events and mentoring athletes. The Tennis MAAC Championship will be local to my home in New Jersey this year, so I look forward to supporting that in person!

What inspires your support for Fairfield University?
Having a direct personal relationship with the athletics directors and coaches at Fairfield has allowed me to understand their vision for the next generation of athletes and has inspired my support over the years. I want current and future Fairfield student-athletes to have the same experience that I did while at Fairfield.  I did not begin to support Fairfield because I received a postcard or phone call from the University.  Nick Wormley, assistant vice president of athletics development/senior associate athletics director, personally reached out to me and we developed an invaluable connection. He really got to know me and sought to understand my values and philanthropic goals which led to me building stronger partnerships at the University.

How did your time at Fairfield help prepare you for life after graduation?
Fairfield offers so many opportunities outside of just athletics and academics. The various organizations that I was a part of during my four years molded me into the person I am today. Upholding my faith and having a strong involvement in Campus Ministry helped transform my thinking about Jesuit ideals and how that converts to personal and professional life. Professionally, I am currently a Managing Director in the Global Transaction Advisory Group at Alvarez & Marsal. We have many Fairfield alumni that work at the broader firm of over 5,700 people and we always talk about how Fairfield prepared us for where we are today. Being well-rounded and getting out of your comfort zone early in life is critical in developing opportunities and an entrepreneurial culture in the business world.  Fairfield's Jesuit values have truly allowed me to succeed in this realm.
