FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Anthony Davis Jr. and Michael Rogan have both signed National Letters of Intent with Fairfield University Men's Basketball, as announced today by Head Coach
Jay Young. Davis and Rogan will join the Stags beginning in the fall of 2022.
Â
"Ant and Mike both come from terrific families and represent everything we look for in Fairfield student-athletes," said Young. "We can't wait to get them on campus and get to work."
Â
Anthony "Ant" Davis Jr. is a 6-5 guard from Stephens City, Va. and will come to Fairfield from the Miller School in Charlottesville. Davis is in his senior season starting at the shooting guard spot for Head Coach Jack Merriweather.
Â
"Ant Davis is a dedicated player and a fantastic young man. He excels in the classroom and has worked diligently to improve himself on the court," said Merriweather. "Ant is a tremendous athlete who excels scoring the ball at the rim, shooting from three, and at the free throw line. His basketball acumen makes him a player who can find multiple ways to immediately improve any team he is on."
Â
Davis is the son of Tennia Leftwich and Anthony Davis Sr. His father played offensive tackle for eight seasons in the NFL, suiting up for the Saints, Rams, Buccaneers and Chargers.
Â
"Ant is an explosive athlete and multi-faceted player who can contribute on both ends of the floor," Young added. "We're really excited about what he brings to our program. His versatility will allow him to contribute in a variety of different ways and we look forward to adding him to the Stags."
Â
Michael Rogan hails from Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and is currently enrolled at South Kent School in Connecticut. The 6-7 guard averaged a triple-double in his final season at Saratoga Springs High School before transferring to South Kent to play for Head Coach Raphael Chillious.
Â
"Mike is an 'old school' grinder with a 'new school' versatile skill set. He's able to play all over the court and is effective in every role you put him in," noted Chillious. "He's one of the best three-point shooters with range in New England, while still being able to score at the other two levels, and he is as tough and mature as they come."
Â
Rogan is the son of John and Sue Rogan and has three older siblings: John, Liz and Mary Kate.
Â
"We're very excited to add Michael to our program," said Young. "He's an elite shooter who can play multiple positions with his size and skill level. He's had terrific coaching at both the high school and AAU level. Michael will be a valuable addition to our team as well as to the campus community."
Â
The 2021-22 edition of Fairfield Men's Basketball is back in action on Sunday, Nov. 14 for a 4 p.m. tip-off at Boston College. The Stags will then open up the home slate on Tuesday, Nov. 16 when Medgar Evers comes to Webster Bank Arena at 7 p.m.
