Canisius used a quick strike to start the game when Lachlan Beever made a run between two Fairfield defenders and found open space inside the box. The midfielder beat the charging goalkeeper to the near post to give a 1-0 lead to the home team just two minutes into the game.
Fairfield found urgency soon after the goal and began to press forward. The Stags began to create more opportunities inside the box with Filipe finally helping his team get even in the 20

Thomas Drillien ran down six yards from goal. The sophomore sent a shot that skipped into the far corner and tied the game at 1-1.
The Stags gained their first lead of the game in the 27

After halftime, Fairfield padded its lead to a pair of goals when Canisius was whistled for an infraction inside the box, setting up the Stags' fifth penalty kick of the season. Filipe stood over the ball and drilled a shot into the upper corner for the team's third goal of the game.
The final goal of the game occurred with just minutes remaining when Filipe accepted the ball 20 yards from goal and brought the ball forward until he found an open lane. He struck the ball past the goalkeeper to complete his day.
The Stags and the Golden Griffs each managed 11 shots during the game with Fairfield putting seven on target and Canisius placing five on goal. Fairfield goalkeeper
