Biography

2021: Jonathan Filipe finished his Fairfield career with a team-high 26 points which came off his team-leading 10 goals and six assists. The forward garnered a spot on the All-MAAC second team for his performance in 2021. He posted points in 11 of his 18 appearances, all of which came as a starter. He was responsible for two game-winning goals (Hartford and Canisius), the most since his three game winners as a freshman. Filipe registered a personal-best seven points in a 4-1 victory against Canisius, netting three goals and adding an assist in the match.

2020-21: Filipe ranked as the team’s top scorer in 2020-21, registering three goals and two assists for eight points. He collected at least one point in four of the team’s eight games, beginning with a goal at Saint Peter’s during the regular season. He followed with a hand in both goals of a 2-1 decision over Monmouth, scoring one and assisting on the other score. He also posted the Stags’ second goal in a 2-0 result over Manhattan before setting up the game-winning goal in a 1-0 MAAC quarterfinal victory at Saint Peter’s. Three of his seven shots on goal found the back of the net.

2019: Filipe made his presence known on up front for most of the 2019 season especially when conference play started. The forward tallied all five of his points against MAAC opponents. He tallied his first points of the season when he earned an assist in a 4-3 setback to Saint Peter’s. Filipe registered both of his two goals over the last four games, beginning with a goal in a 3-0 win over Siena. His final points came in the form of a game-winning goal against Niagara, netting the final goal in the 73rd minute. His five total points placed in a tie for fourth place among his teammates. He was one of five Stags to record a game-winning goal in 2019.

2018: Filipe enjoyed an outstanding opening season with the Stags, scoring three game-winning goals in his 17 appearances. He posted the deciding goal in three MAAC games, including Monmouth (2-1 score), Iona (2-1), and Saint Peter's (1-0). His first collegaite points came in just his third appearances, a goal which tied the game against Yale University. Fairfield would go on to defeat the Bulldogs by a 2-1 count, giving Fairfield a 4-0 record in games in which Filipe scored a goal. He was an accurate shooter with 50 percent of his shots being on goal (18 of 36). For his efforts in 2018, Filipe collected a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie team. 

Before Fairfield: Filipe brought a great deal of playing experience to Fairfield University, playing at Danbury High School as a forward. He also spend time as a member of the New York Red Bulls U-18/19 program, scoring 19 goals during his time with the program. He tallied 10 goals in 24 appearances for the Red Bulls during the 2017-18 season. He also spent time with Beachside SC U-17/18 netting nine goals during his stay.
