FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Head Softball Coach
Julie Brzezinski announced the 2021 softball schedule which includes 20 doubleheaders against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents. The Stags will play four games against each conference team which results in a 40-game slate.
The Stags start the season by playing four of their first five weekends at home beginning with twinbills against Siena College on March 20 and 21. The team continues the home stand with two more doubleheaders against Marist College on March 27 and 28. Fairfield plays its first road date at Iona College on March 31, one of three teams which will feature midweek doubleheaders on the schedule. The two teams will complete the home-and-home series when Fairfield hosts the Gaels on April 6.
In between the two Iona dates, Coach Brzezinski will see her team play host to Niagara University on April 2 and 3. After the four-team home stand, the Stags will play away from campus on three consecutive dates, a run which starts at Rider University on April 10 and 11. Fairfield will head to Manhattan College on April 13 for a midweek doubleheader which will be followed with a doubleheader on April 17 as well as April 18 at Canisius College.
A home stand awaits the softball squad after its meeting with Canisius as it wraps a pair of midweek doubleheaders against Manhattan (April 21) and Quinnipiac University (April 28) around weekend dates against Saint Peter's University (April 24 and 25).
The season comes to a close with four games at Monmouth University, slated for May 1 and 2, before finishing the regular season with the final midweek doubleheader of the season on May 5 at Quinnipiac University. The 2021 MAAC Championship will be played from May 14-16.
